Mōretsu Uchū Kōkyōkyoku Dai 7 Gakushō "Mugen no Ai"
Mōretsu Uchū Kōkyōkyoku Dai 7 Gakushō "Mugen no Ai" is the seventh single by the Japanese girl group Momoiro Clover Z. It was released in Japan on March 7, 2012. The song was written, composed and arranged by Kenichi Maeyamada, with guitar by ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman. An official remix by Noisia was released on August 25, 2014.
The single came out in two editions: Limited Edition and Regular Edition. The Limited Edition includes a DVD with the music video for the title track, and its CD has two songs, while the Regular Edition has three songs. The title track and “Lost Child” were used as the opening and ending themes for the anime Bodacious Space Pirates. Tatsuo Satō, the anime’s director, described the song as very fitting and descriptive of Moretsu.
The B-side, “DNA Kyōshikyoku,” served as an advertising song for two Momoya products, Kizamishōga and Kizamininniku, featuring Momoiro Clover Z members in the commercials. The covers and the music video show the members in pirate outfits, designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, known for Neon Genesis Evangelion and FLCL. With a space-themed concept, the video presents a Momoiro Clover Z-style space opera.
Before the release, the group announced a short tour of five concerts in four prefectures, starting February 25, 2012. A surprise live premiere of the music video was held on February 18, 2012 in Osaka, drawing about 3,000 fans and broadcast on Ustream.
In its first week, the CD single reached No. 5 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart with 39,858 copies sold. On Billboard Japan Hot 100, the title track debuted at No. 2.
