Mía Asenjo
Mía Gayle Asenjo Mahabirsingh (born 7 March 2003) is a professional footballer who plays as a left winger for DUX Logroño in Spain’s Liga F. Born in Valley Stream, New York, she represents the Dominican Republic national team and was raised in Malverne, NY. Her father is Dominican and her mother is American.
She played youth soccer at Montverde Academy and joined the University of Central Florida (UCF) in November 2020, redshirting in 2021 and debuting in 2022. In 2022 she played for Queensboro FC in the USL W League, scoring 11 goals in 12 games and earning league honors.
Internationally, Asenjo played for the Dominican Republic U20 at the 2020 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship, scoring four goals in six appearances. She made her senior debut on 18 February 2021 against Puerto Rico and has since earned 11 caps, scoring seven goals (as of 4 June 2024). Her 2021 NCAA season was cut short by a knee injury (ACL, MCL, and meniscus).
She currently plays for DUX Logroño in Spain.
