Lofty 88.9 (ACMA call sign 5LCM) is a volunteer‑run community radio station based in Mount Barker, in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Named after the Mount Lofty Ranges, it is run by Lofty Community Media Incorporated, formed in June 2017. The station started online, then received a temporary community broadcasting licence from ACMA in November 2018 and shared the 88.9 MHz frequency with Hills Radio, broadcasting Sundays to Tuesdays. In September 2020 ACMA granted a long‑term licence for the Mount Barker area, and Lofty 88.9 began full‑time broadcasting on 1 October 2020. It airs locally produced shows and syndicated programs from the Community Radio Network, Deutsche Welle, and other independent producers. Awards: 2018 SACBA Bilby Award – runner‑up for Best Sports Broadcast; 2021 SACBA Bilby Awards – runner‑up for Youth Contribution and Best Radio Program, with nominations in Sports Broadcast and Interview categories.
