La Granja (Spanish for "the farm") is an urban commune and city in Chile, located in Santiago Province in the Santiago Metropolitan Region and part of Greater Santiago. It covers 10.1 square kilometers and has no rural areas. In 2002, La Granja had 132,520 residents (64,750 men and 67,770 women), living in a densely built-up urban area. The commune is governed by a municipal council and an alcalde (mayor) elected every four years; from 2024 to 2028 the mayor is Claudio Arriagada (independent). For national elections, La Granja is in the 25th electoral district for the Chamber of Deputies (along with Macul and San Joaquín) and in the 8th senatorial constituency (Santiago East) for the Senate, represented by Soledad Alvear and Pablo Longueira.
