La Bastide, Var
La Bastide is a small commune in southeastern France, in the Var department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. It sits high in the hills, with elevations from 928 to 1,686 meters and an average around 1,025 meters. The area covers about 111.8 square kilometers. As of 2023, about 227 people live there, giving a low population density of roughly 19 inhabitants per square kilometer. The mayor for 2020–2026 is Claude Marin. The postal code is 83840 and the INSEE code is 83013. It is part of the Draguignan arrondissement, the Flayosc canton, and the CA Dracénie Provence Verdon intercommunality. In French, the town is La Bastide (pronounced la bastid); in Occitan, La Bastida.
