Kofi Annan University of Guinea (UKAG) is a private university in Nongo, Ratoma, Conakry, Guinea. It is the oldest private higher-education institution in the country. Founded by Ousmane Kaba, it is named after Kofi Annan, the former United Nations Secretary-General. The university was created on May 28, 1999, by law 2814/MESR/CAB. Its motto is The ambition of excellence and modernity. UKAG offers five faculties and one institute and teaches in French. The library, on the third floor of the administration building, has over 50,000 titles in print and digital formats, along with more than 40 computer workstations with internet access. The campus also includes a cultural space for forums, conferences, panels, and exhibitions. On February 11, 2023, the Entrepreneurship House was opened in a ceremony attended by Diaka Sidibé, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation. More than 6,000 students are enrolled, a number that has stayed steady since a 2016 government ban on directing students to private universities. The university increased its use of online platforms during Guinea’s Ebola outbreak in 2014–2015 and the 2019–2020 health crisis. It currently comprises five faculties and one institute.
