Khazar is a rural village (selo) in Derbentsky District, Republic of Dagestan, Russia. It is the administrative center of Khazarsky Selsoviet. As of 2010, the population was 4,809, and the village has 34 streets. Khazar is about 10 km south of Derbent by road. Nearby rural localities include Nizhny Dzhalgan and Arablinskoye. The residents are Azerbaijanis, Aghuls, Lezgins, Tabasarans, Rutuls, Dargins and Russians.
