Kempholey night frog
Kempholey night frog (Nyctibatrachus kempholeyensis) is a frog in the Nyctibatrachidae family. It is found only in the Western Ghats of India, between the states of Karnataka and Kerala. It lives in tropical moist lowland forests and near rivers. The species was first described by C. R. Narayan Rao in 1937 and has also been called Nannobatrachus kempholeyensis. It went unseen for about 74 years and was thought to be extinct, but it was rediscovered around the same time as new Nyctibatrachus species identified by herpetologist Sathyabhama Das Biju. Its conservation status on the IUCN Red List is Data Deficient.
