KWLO (1580 AM) serves the Provo/Springville area in Utah. It broadcasts a Spanish Contemporary Christian format under the branding La Estacion de la Familia and is owned by Iglesia Pentecostal Víspera del Fin. KWLO also broadcasts on 99.9 FM through translator K260DS, located atop West Mountain near Provo.
Technical details: KWLO operates at 1580 kHz with 1,000 watts by day and 380 watts at night (Class B). The translator at 99.9 FM has about 233 watts ERP. The station shares its towers with KOVO 960 near Provo.
History in brief: KWLO started as a construction permit in 2009 under RAMS III but didn’t air until 2018. On January 1, 2019, it switched to a Classic Hits format. In 2019, RAMS III sold KWLO (and the Utah’s Goat brand and translator) to Lucky Dog Broadcasting for $300,000, while Valleydale Broadcasting sold KPVO-Fountain Green and the translator for $25,000 to Lucky Dog. In November 2021, a loop claimed Utah’s Goat had moved to 96.7 KQMB; the deal with Lucky Dog was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On February 11, 2022, KWLO and K260DS were sold to Iglesia Pentecostal Víspera del Fin for $300,000, with KPVO-Fountain Green sold to the same buyer in a separate deal. Beginning April 13, 2022, KWLO began airing programming from its new owner and now carries Spanish Contemporary Christian programming as La Estacion de la Familia.
