KPAM
KPAM (860 AM) is a commercial radio station in Troutdale, Oregon, serving the Portland metro area. It broadcasts a conservative talk format and is branded as "860 The Answer." The station is owned by Salem Media Group, with studios on SE Lake Road in Portland.
Programming comes from the Salem Radio Network, including Dennis Prager, Mike Gallagher, Sebastian Gorka, Hugh Hewitt, and Charlie Kirk.
Technical note: By day, KPAM runs 50,000 watts non-directional. At night it reduces to 15,000 watts and uses a directional antenna to avoid interfering with CJBC Toronto on the same frequency. The transmitter is in Vancouver, Washington.
History: KPAM began in 1997 and originally aired contemporary Christian music before switching to talk radio. It was formerly owned by Pamplin Broadcasting, which is reflected in the call sign. In 2018, Salem acquired the station, and on April 2, 2018 it rebranded as "860 The Answer" with Salem programming.
