Just Dance 2018
Just Dance 2018 is a 2017 dance rhythm game by Ubisoft. It was announced on June 12, 2017 at E3 and released in October 2017 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch. It is the ninth main game in the Just Dance series and the last to come out for PlayStation 3.
Gameplay lets players copy the on-screen dancer’s moves using motion controllers (Wii Remotes on Wii and Wii U, PlayStation Move on PS3, PlayStation Camera on PS4, Kinect on Xbox 360 and One) or the Just Dance Controller app on a smartphone. The older Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions use the Just Dance 2015 engine, while the newer consoles have a refreshed user interface and focus mainly on standard play in World Dance Floor.
New features include Sweat, a new Super judgment between Good and Perfect, and a Megastar rank at 12,000 points. The Dance Lab mode returns, using the same scoring style as Just Dance 2017 but with a traditional star ranking and medleys themed around professions and animals. Kids Mode offers kid-friendly choreography with a revised scoring system and rainbow stars. World Dance Floor adds a Team Battle with Red and Blue teams and seasonal rankings. A Gift Machine uses Mojo points to unlock avatars, stickers, skins, alternate routines, Dance Lab episodes, and more Mojo points.
The Nintendo Switch version introduces Double Rumble, using HD Rumble in Joy-Cons and requiring two controllers, plus Beat Vibrations, which makes Joy-Cons vibrate to the beat. Ubisoft Connect is not used on PS3 and Xbox 360, and Community Remix and Mashup features were removed. Online services for Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 ended on November 19, 2018, with all other platforms’ online services ending on July 3, 2023.
Just Dance Unlimited is a subscription service that gives access to a streaming library of songs from previous games and new exclusive tracks. A three-month Unlimited subscription came with Just Dance 2018, and Unlimited was available on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch until July 3, 2023.
