Joy Zinto
Joy Jivankumar Zinto (born 7 August 1965 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India) is a former cricketer who played for India domestically and later represented the United States from 1998 to 2002. He was an all-rounder, batting right-handed and bowling left-arm orthodox spin.
Zinto began his first-class career with Gujarat in December 1984 at age 19, debuting in the Ranji Trophy against Bombay and playing for Gujarat through 1989. He also played for West Zone in the Duleep Trophy in 1989–90. He had two five-wicket hauls in the Ranji Trophy: 5/102 against Bombay in January 1988 and 5/88 against Baroda in January 1989. He also scored three half-centuries, with a top score of 85 against Bombay in November 1986, batting as low as eight.
After moving to the United States, Zinto made his U.S. debut in October 1998 in the Red Stripe Bowl, a West Indian domestic competition to which the United States was invited as a guest team. In three matches he did not take a wicket and conceded 102 runs. He later played in the 2001 ICC Trophy in Canada, where he took ten wickets in nine matches, the fourth-most on the U.S. team. His best figures were 3/32 against the Netherlands and 3/34 against Papua New Guinea. His last internationals came at the 2002 Americas Championship in Argentina, where he took four wickets in four matches, including 3/14 against the Bahamas.
