Sir John Phillips (6 July 1855 – 8 December 1928) was a British doctor who specialized in obstetrics, the care of pregnant women. He was born in Woburn, Bedfordshire, England, and studied at Cambridge and King’s College London, qualifying in medicine in 1881. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1892 and in 1904 was named Professor of Obstetric Medicine at King’s College London. He also served as an examiner for the Universities of Cambridge and London, and as a consultant physician in obstetrics at King’s College Hospital. In 1918 he was appointed Physician to the Queen and was knighted. He published many works on obstetrics, including Outline of Diseases of Women (1893), with a fourth edition in 1906. He married twice and had one son and three daughters. He died on 8 December 1928.
