John Lisnik (December 19, 1946 – April 24, 2020) was an American politician and administrator in Maine. He served in the Maine House of Representatives as a Democrat from 1980 to 1990, succeeding Bruce Roope. Born in Presque Isle, Maine, Lisnik finished school there in 1965 and joined the U.S. Army to serve in Vietnam, becoming a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division before his 1968 discharge. He graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1972, taught social studies in Falmouth for a year, then earned a Master of Arts in government and international affairs from the University of Notre Dame. He returned to Aroostook County to teach at Caribou High School and later served as vice chairman of the Presque Isle city Democratic Committee when he announced his run for the House. Lisnik also worked as Assistant to the Chancellor for Governmental Relations for the University of Maine system, representing the system in the Maine Legislature. He died on April 24, 2020, in Presque Isle at age 73.
