John L. Hudson
John L. "Jack" Hudson is a retired lieutenant general of the U.S. Air Force. He was the Commander of the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and, from 2010 to 2018, the Director of the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson. Born in New York and raised in St. Francisville, Louisiana, Hudson was commissioned in 1973 after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He also studied at Purdue University, the Naval War College, and Salve Regina University.
During his career, Hudson flew more than 3,500 hours in the A-10, A-7, T-38, and many other aircraft. He served as a T-38 instructor, an A-10 pilot and flight examiner, and a test pilot at Edwards AFB. He led various Air Force and joint programs, worked as the senior military assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology, and served as Program Executive Officer for the Joint Strike Fighter program. Before commanding the Aeronautical Systems Center, he was Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs. After retiring from active duty, he stayed at Wright-Patterson as Deputy Director of the National Museum, and on December 23, 2010, became Director, a post he held until his retirement on October 5, 2018.
