John Hammond (cricketer)
John Hammond (15 January 1769 – 15 October 1844) was an English cricketer who played in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He debuted in 1790 and participated in 123 known matches until 1816. An all‑rounder, he was a left‑handed batsman who bowled right‑arm slow underarm, and he was a good fielder and occasional wicket‑keeper. Hammond played for the Players in the first two Gentlemen v Players matches in 1806. His son Charles and his grandson Ernest also played cricket.
