Jimmy Thomson (footballer, born 1948)
James Arnott Thomson, known as Jimmy Thomson, was born on 28 June 1948 in Glasgow, Scotland. He is a former professional footballer who played as a midfielder.
Thomson’s career began with Petershill (1967–1968). He then joined Newcastle United (1968–1971), making five league appearances. In 1970 he spent a loan spell at Barrow, playing two league games. He moved to Grimsby Town (1971–1972), where he scored four goals in 26 league appearances.
After Grimsby, he played for Morton (1972–1973), South Shields (1973–1974), Gateshead United (1974–1976), Evenwood Town (1976–1977), and Newcastle Blue Star (from 1977 onward).
