Jim Duffy (footballer)
Jim Duffy, born 27 April 1959 in Glasgow, is a Scottish football coach and former defender. He played for Celtic (where he did not break into the first team), Greenock Morton, Dundee, and Partick Thistle, totaling about 390 league appearances and 9 goals in his playing career. He also earned one cap for Scotland Under-21s.
As a manager and coach, Duffy has led Falkirk, Dundee (in two spells, including as player-manager), Hibernian, Brechin City, Clyde, Greenock Morton, Dumbarton, and Ayr United. He also worked in English football with Norwich City as caretaker manager and had a brief director of football role at Hearts.
His notable achievements include guiding Dundee to the 1995 Scottish League Cup Final and winning the Scottish League One title with Morton in 2014-15. He also faced health challenges, including a heart attack in June 2020.
Most recently, Duffy served as director of football at Clyde after a long association with the club, but left the role in August 2023. He grew up in Maryhill, Glasgow, and was a childhood neighbor and friend of Charlie Nicholas.
