Jeffrey William Pentland (born September 8, 1946) is an American baseball coach who has worked in both college baseball and Major League Baseball (MLB).

Playing career
Pentland attended Arizona State University (ASU) and played for the ASU Sun Devils as a pitcher. He compiled a 32-12 win-loss record with a 2.25 ERA, ranking among ASU’s top pitching marks. He played on the 1967 College World Series team. After college, he spent three seasons (1969–1971) in the San Diego Padres’ minor league system, mainly at first base and also as a pitcher. In 2002, Pentland was inducted into the ASU Hall of Fame.

Coaching career
Pentland began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of California, Riverside (1975–1982) and at ASU (1983–1992). He joined the Florida Marlins’ organization in 1993 and served as MLB hitting coach for the second half of 1996. He later served as the hitting coach for the Chicago Cubs (1997–2002), Kansas City Royals (2003–2005), Seattle Mariners (2005–2008), and Los Angeles Dodgers (2010–2011; he had joined the Dodgers in 2008 as a secondary hitting instructor and was promoted to hitting coach in 2010). Pentland was hired by the New York Yankees in January 2015 to be their hitting coach, succeeding Kevin Long; the Yankees did not offer him a contract after the season.
