Jean Andreau

Jean Andreau is a French historian. He studied at the École normale supérieure in 1960 and was a member of the École française de Rome. Since 2016 he has been a research director at the EHESS. He studied under Pierre Grimal, Julien Guey and Claude Nicolet. His research focuses on the economy and society of ancient Rome, especially from the 3rd century BCE to the 3rd century CE, and on the old economy and pre-industrial economies. He coordinated the dossier Quoi de neuf en histoire ancienne? in Cahiers du Centre de recherches historiques, no. 37 (April 2006).
