Janez Istenič, born 23 December 1940 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is a Slovenian winemaker and former footballer. Early in his career he was regarded as a promising goalkeeper for Slovenia and played for Yugoslavia's youth teams. He is considered the first producer of sparkling wine in Slovenia. His father was a train driver.
