Jacob Lassner is an American writer and scholar in Jewish studies. He is the emeritus Philip M. & Ethel Klutznick Professor of Jewish Civilization at Northwestern University and was the director of the Crown Family Center for Jewish Studies. His research focuses on Medieval Near Eastern history, especially urban life, political culture, and Jewish–Muslim relations. He earned his PhD from Yale University in 1963. Lassner has received awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the American Council of Learned Societies–Social Science Research Council.
