It's All Gravy
It's All Gravy is a 2002 single by British rapper Romeo featuring American singer Christina Milian, from Romeo's debut solo album Solid Love. The song was released on 28 October 2002, recorded at StarGate Studios in Norway, produced by StarGate, and runs 3 minutes 14 seconds. It credits Romeo, StarGate, and Roger Russell as writers, with additional writing credits for Audio Two, Mark Morales, and Mark C. Rooney because it samples the piano riff from Mary J. Blige's 1992 song Real Love.
In the track, Romeo raps about his rise to fame while Milian sings the chorus and ad-libs. It was the second single from Solid Love. The single peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart, number six on the UK R&B Singles Chart, and spent nine weeks in the UK Top 100. It also reached number 32 in Ireland and number 39 on the Eurochart Hot 100. A music video was released to promote the track.
Background: Romeo had been part of So Solid Crew, who faced controversy, leading members to pursue solo careers. Milian, seeking a new musical direction, collaborated on the song. The B-side is Deeper (Part 2). The UK CD single includes two versions of It's All Gravy plus the B-side; the cassette features the B-side as well.
Reception: Music Week named it a recommended single and one of the coolest duets of the year. James Masterton felt Milian overshadows Romeo but provided the perfect hook. Retrospective commentary praised Milian's performance and the chemistry between Romeo and Milian.
