The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is a nonprofit, member-led global group for public transport authorities, networks, operators, policymakers, researchers, and suppliers. It works to promote sustainable urban mobility and better public transport for everyone.

Founded on 17 August 1885 as the Union Internationale des Tramways, UITP is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, and runs 13 regional and liaison offices around the world.

UITP has more than 2,000 member organizations in over 100 countries and covers all public transport modes, including metro, light rail, regional and suburban rail, bus, trolleybus, taxi and ride-hailing, and waterborne transport. It produces publications, oversees projects, hosts global events, and brings together people and groups interested in advancing public transport.

The association envisions sustainable, accessible, and technology-enabled mobility. Its strategies include increasing zero-emission vehicles, promoting multimodal travel, and using digital tools to improve efficiency and passenger experience. It also emphasizes public–private partnerships to meet changing urban mobility needs and cut carbon emissions.
