Ineke Stoop
Ineke Anežka Lucia Stoop, born 14 March 1953 in The Hague, is a retired Dutch survey statistician who specialized in methodology. She served as Head of Methodology at the Netherlands Institute for Social Research (SCB) and chaired the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC).
She earned a master’s degree in psychology from Leiden University in 1980 and completed her PhD at Utrecht University in 2005. Stoop worked as a researcher at Leiden University from 1973 to 1983, then joined SCB in 1983 and became Head of Methodology in 1990. She became chair of ESAC in 2014 and retired in 2019.
Stoop has written and edited books and volumes on statistics and survey research. She is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute. She contributed to the European Social Survey project, which won the Descartes Prize in 2005. In 2019, she gave a keynote speech at the European Survey Research Association conference in Zagreb, where she received the association’s Outstanding Service Award.
