I Ketut Soki (1946–2022) was a Bali-based artist and one of the founders of Bali’s Young Artists movement. As a child, he was among the first two students taught by the famous painter Arie Smit. In 1960, Smit found a boy named I Nyoman Cakra drawing in the sand in Penestanan, Bali, and invited him to his studio. Cakra asked if his nephew could join, so I Ketut Soki became Smit’s other pupil. The two boys became Smit’s first students and helped start the Young Artists movement.
