Hostage (1983 film)
Hostage, also known as Savage Attraction, is a 1983 Australian crime film based on a true story. It was directed by Frank Shields, who co-wrote the screenplay with John Lind. Frank Shields produced the film, with Kerry Mack and Ralph Schicha in the lead roles. The film’s cinematography is by Vince Monton, it was edited by Don Saunders, and the music was by Davood A. Tabrizi. Frontier Films and Klejazz Productions produced the movie, which was distributed in Australia by Roadshow Film Distributors. It was released on 5 May 1983, has a running time of 93 minutes, and is in English. In Australia, the film grossed AU$2.455 million.
Plot
The story is based on real events and follows Christine Lewis, a teenager from Wollongong in the 1970s, who marries a sadistic German bank robber named Walter Maresch.
Real-life note
The real Christine Lewis later used the names Christine Maresch and Christine O'Neill, and she died of hypothermia in April 2023.
