The Hessenliga is the top football league in the German state of Hesse and sits at the fifth level of the German football league system. It is run by the Hessian Football Association and currently features 20 clubs. The champions go up to the Regionalliga Südwest, while the bottom teams are relegated to the Verbandsligen Hessen-Nord, Hessen-Mitte, or Hessen-Süd. The Hessenpokal is the local cup competition.

The league began in 1945 and has mostly been a single division. It has had several names: Landesliga-Hessen (until 1950), Amateurliga Hessen (after 1950), Amateur Oberliga Hessen (1978), Oberliga Hessen (1994), and Hessenliga since 2008. When the Regionalliga was introduced in 1994, Oberliga champions could reach the 2. Bundesliga through playoffs; later, promotion rules changed with the new Regionalliga structure.

Since 2012, the Hessenliga has fed into the Regionalliga Südwest, along with the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg and the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar. The former Regionalliga Süd was disbanded after the 2011–12 season.

The current champions are FSV Fernwald (2024–25). The league has occasionally included teams from Bavaria in the past.
