Henry Hudson Regional High School
Henry Hudson Regional High School is a public school for students in grades 7 through 12, serving Atlantic Highlands and Highlands in Monmouth County, New Jersey. It operates as part of the Henry Hudson Regional School District. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association through January 2031. In the 2024–25 school year, it had 278 students and 37.9 full‑time teachers, for a student‑teacher ratio of 7.3 to 1. About 25% of students qualified for free lunch and 4% for reduced-price lunch. The school colors are navy blue and white, and the team name is the Admirals, who compete in the Shore Conference.
Henry Hudson Regional High School opened on September 10, 1962, costing about $1.3 million. It replaced the former Atlantic Highlands High School and started with 630 students in grades 7–12. The district’s first superintendent was Henry Schiable, who served until 1969.
In 2023, voters in Atlantic Highlands and Highlands approved consolidating their K–6 districts with Henry Hudson to form a single PreK–12 district starting in 2024–25. The consolidation has involved questions about Sea Bright joining the district, since Sea Bright currently sends students elsewhere; legal challenges followed. The district is classified by the state as District Factor Group DE, a socioeconomic grouping used for comparison.
Over the years, Henry Hudson has appeared in various New Jersey public high school rankings. The school competes in the Shore Conference, Division B Central. For athletics, Henry Hudson has operated cooperative programs with Keyport High School in several sports, with joint teams sometimes led by Keyport. The co‑op agreements were set to run through the 2023–24 school year. In 2015, the softball team reached the Group I state championship game but lost.
Principal: Kevin McCarthy.
