Henry George Parson
Henry George Parson (September 13, 1865 – February 5, 1936) was an English-born merchant and politician in British Columbia. He served as a Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly for the Columbia district from 1907 to 1912. He was defeated in the 1912 election and again in 1920.
Parson was born in London, the son of George F. Parson, and was educated there. He moved to Ottawa in 1883, then Banff in 1885, and finally British Columbia in 1887. In 1889, he married Mary Jane Reid. He lived in Golden, BC, where he was president of the Golden Board of Trade and the Golden Hospital Society. He chaired the Royal Commission of Labour, whose report was published in 1914.
Parson died in Vancouver at the age of 70. The community of Parson near Golden was named after him.
