Hans Podlipnik Castillo is a Chilean former professional tennis player. Born on January 9, 1988, in Lo Barnechea, Chile, he lives in Santiago and is of Slovenian descent. He turned pro in 2005 and retired in January 2020. He is 1.83 meters tall and played right-handed with a one-handed backhand. His father, Johann Podlipnik, is an Austrian former football goalkeeper.

Podlipnik’s strongest results came in doubles. He won one ATP doubles title and reached another final in doubles. He also collected 19 Challenger and 29 Futures doubles titles, plus 23 Futures singles titles. His highest doubles ranking was world No. 43, achieved on February 12, 2018, while his best singles ranking was No. 157, reached on August 10, 2015. He finished 2014 as Chile’s top singles player (No. 196) and 2015 as No. 167.

In Grand Slam events, his singles runs never reached the main draw, with his best results around the qualifying rounds. In doubles, he made the Australian Open third round in 2018 and reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2017.

Podlipnik earned about $565,699 in prize money over his career. In 2019, after competing with Chile’s Davis Cup team at the Davis Cup Finals, he announced his retirement. Since leaving professional tennis, he has become a tennis coach in Seattle, Washington. He also represented Chile at the Pan American Games in 2015 in Toronto in men’s doubles.
