Men's pommel horse at the 2000 Summer Olympics

The men's pommel horse competition took place at the Sydney SuperDome. Qualifying was on September 16 and the final was on September 24. There were 80 gymnasts from 29 nations.

Medalists
- Gold: Marius Urzică, Romania – 9.862
- Silver: Eric Poujade, France
- Bronze: Alexei Nemov, Russia

Key details
- This was Romania’s first victory in the men’s pommel horse. France earned its first medal in the event, and Nemov won bronze for the second year in a row.
- Urzică had won silver on the pommel horse in 1996, and Nemov was the 1999 world champion.
- The competition used a 6–5–4 team format (reduced from 7–6–5 in 1996). Only the five gymnasts designated for pommel horse could compete on the apparatus, and there were no compulsory exercises—only voluntary routines.
- Qualifying scores determined who advanced to the finals and who qualified for the team and all-around events. The top eight gymnasts advanced to the final, with a maximum of two per nation; the final rankings were decided solely by the final exercise.
