Gymnastics at the 1936 Summer Olympics – Men's parallel bars
The men’s parallel bars competition at the 1936 Summer Olympics was held at the Waldbühne on August 10–11. It was the event’s sixth appearance at the Games. There were 110 gymnasts from 14 nations, with up to eight competitors per nation.
Medalists:
- Gold: Konrad Frey (Germany) – 19.067
- Silver: Michael Reusch (Switzerland)
- Bronze: Alfred Schwarzmann (Germany)
Germany’s Frey won gold and Schwarzmann took bronze, making Germany the first country to have two gymnasts win medals in this event at the same Games. This was Germany’s second overall victory in the event (the first being in 1896).
Competition format: Each gymnast performed a compulsory exercise and a voluntary exercise. The two scores were added for a final result, and these scores counted toward the individual all-around as well as the team score. There were no separate finals for the event.
