Guildford, British Columbia
Guildford is a town centre and neighbourhood in the city of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. It’s best known for shopping along 104 Avenue and 152 Street, including the Guildford Town Centre mall at their crossroads, a large 200-store mall with many shops. The area is named after Guildford in Surrey, England. Although the area is large, locals usually think of Guildford as centered around the Guildford Town Centre and nearby blocks. A tall landmark is an 86-metre flagpole that once held the title of the world’s tallest flagpole, coming from Expo 86. Guildford also has the Guildford Recreation Centre, run by the City of Surrey for local recreation.
As of the 2016 census, Guildford has about 60,745 residents. It sits in the northeastern part of Surrey. Its northern border reaches the Fraser River; its western edge goes to about 144th Street; its eastern edge reaches Langley at 196th Street. Its southern edge touches Fleetwood (roughly to 96th Avenue) and Cloverdale (roughly to 84th–80th Avenue). British Columbia Highway 1 runs through Guildford from east to west, crossing the Fraser River at the Port Mann Bridge.
