The gualgura is an Ecuadorian legend about a black chick with a beautiful voice and an innocent look. When it attacks, it turns into a man with a deep, persuasive voice that can hypnotize people and even kill. It only appears at night. The story is well known among Afro-Ecuadorian communities in Esmeraldas and is connected to other local myths like la tunda, el bambero, el duende, la bruja, and el riviel.
