Gol & Gincu The Series
Gol & Gincu The Series is a Malaysian TV drama that aired from 2006 to 2007 as a spin-off of the 2005 film Gol & Gincu. Created by Rafidah Abdullah and Lina Tan, it continues the story of the all-female futsal team "Bukan Team Biasa" (Not an Ordinary Team). The show stars Nur Fazura, Pierre Andre, Sazzy Falak, and Ashraf Sinclair. It ran 26 episodes, each about 42 minutes, on 8TV from 4 June 2006 to 30 September 2007. Season 1 aired 4 June to 27 August 2006; Season 2 aired 8 July to 30 September 2007. The first season also aired in Singapore on Suria from 26 December 2006 to 20 March 2007.
Plot: Putri, a fashion student from a rich family, and Reza, a law student who works part-time at the futsal court, start dating despite their different backgrounds. Ayu has a long-time crush on Reza and schemes to disrupt Putri and Reza’s relationship while staying friends with her rival. Reza grapples with issues from his past, including HIV positivity and drug addiction. Putri faces multiple problems: her friend Mia marries a much older man against her parents’ wishes; her teammates deal with personal issues; and her mother Datin Aina is distressed when a mysterious man from her past is revealed to be Putri’s estranged father. Eventually Putri teams up with her former rival Shasha and teammates Zie, Sarah, J, Dayang, and Ling, proving that when they unite, they can overcome any challenge. The series features the opening theme "Generasiku" by OAG and the ending theme "Teruja" by Ella. Fahmi Fadzil, who later became Malaysia’s digital communications minister, has a minor role.
