Glen Middlemiss
Glenn Russell Middlemiss (born 8 June 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong and St Kilda in the VFL.
He grew up playing for Geelong West. In 1977, while playing for Geelong West against Williamstown, he was knocked unconscious in an accident and was clinically dead for about two and a half minutes. The match was stopped for 20 minutes while doctors revived him. He recovered and returned to play.
Middlemiss was a versatile player, often used in defense or up forward. He began his VFL career with Geelong in 1979 and played there until 1981, appearing in 34 games and kicking 29 goals. His best game came in round eight of 1980, when he kicked seven goals against St Kilda at Kardinia Park.
In 1981 he moved to St Kilda, where he played 16 games and scored 10 goals over three seasons (1981–1984). His 1984 season included five suspensions, totaling nine matches. After returning to reserves duty, he never played another senior game for St Kilda.
He then moved to Queensland in 1985 to play for Southport in the QAFL. He kicked the winning goal in the 1985 QAFL Grand Final against Mayne, with 68 seconds remaining, helping Southport win by three points.
Overall VFL career: 50 games and 39 goals.
