Francisco Arcia
Francisco Antonio Arcia is a Venezuelan catcher who plays for Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in the Mexican League. Born September 14, 1989 in Maiquetía, Venezuela, he bats switch and throws right. He signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent in 2007 and spent years in the minors with the Yankees, Marlins, and Angels organizations before making his major league debut with the Los Angeles Angels on July 26, 2018. His first major league hit was a three-run homer, and in his first two games he drove in 10 runs, becoming the first player in MLB history to achieve that in such a short span. He also became the first Angels position player to pitch since 1993, and on September 20, 2018 he became the first player to catch, pitch, and hit a home run in the same game. He finished 2018 with a .204 batting average, 6 home runs and 23 RBIs in 41 games.
After 2018, Arcia’s career included varios stops in the minors, independent leagues, and the Mexican League. He spent time in the Cubs organization, returned to the Angels’ system, and later played for Sultanes de Monterrey and Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos. In 2024 he appeared in 77 games for Dos Laredos, hitting .261 with 2 home runs and 28 RBIs, and in 2025 he played 70 games with Dos Laredos, batting .265 with 3 home runs and 29 RBIs.
