Fotiy Leskin
Fotiy Leskin (birth name Fotiy Ivanovich Leskin; 1913–1970) was an ethnic Russian military officer born in Yining, Xinjiang, then part of the Republic of China. He commanded forces for the East Turkestan Republic during the Ili Rebellion (1944–1946). In 1949 he joined the People's Liberation Army of China, rising to major general and leading the PLA Fifth Army (1949–1953). After Xinjiang came under PRC control, his unit was disbanded in 1953 and he moved to the Soviet Union. He died in Alma-Ata in 1970.
