Five Get Over Excited is a rock song by The Housemartins from their 1987 album The People Who Grinned Themselves to Death. It was released as a single on 11 May 1987 and written by Paul Heaton and Stan Cullimore. It followed their UK #1 hit Caravan of Love (and was preceded in the U.S. by Flag Day) and peaked at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in June 1987.

This was the first single after drummer Hugh Whitaker had left the band, although he appears in the music video being kidnapped by the new drummer, Dave Hemingway.

Music writer Rikki Rooksby described the title as anti-hyperbolic and said it was revolutionary because pop lyrics often rely on hyperbole. In 2007, the Manchester Evening News called it another strong chart hit that stood out from much of 1980s music.
