FEWS is a rock band formed in 2014 in Malmö, Sweden, by David Alexander Lomelino and Frederick Rundquist. They describe their sound as post-punk with motorik krautrock rhythms, plus noise pop and neo-psychedelia. The group later based itself in London around the release of its first album.
The original lineup included Lomelino, Rundquist, bassist Alexander Blomfeldt and drummer Rasmus Andersson. Blomfeldt left in 2016 and was replaced by Jay Clifton. In March 2019, Lomelino left the band; Jacob Olson joined later that year to take his place.
FEWS has released three albums: Means (2016), Into Red (2019) and GLASS CITY (2023). They issued their debut single Ill in June 2015 on Speedy Wunderground after contacting producer Dan Carey. Means arrived on May 20, 2016, and was preceded by The Zoo (November 2015) and 100 Goosebumps (March 2016), with Drinking Games released in May 2016.
The band formed after Lomelino and Rundquist connected through MySpace; Lomelino had performed as Summer Heart, and Rundquist with Sameblod. They had been signed to the Swedish label Sommarhjarta. After demoing The Zoo to PIAS Recordings, they signed with the label. They spent time based in London around Means’ release. Lomelino left FEWS in 2019 to focus on Summer Heart, and later Jacob Olson from Useless Eaters joined FEWS.
