Felice Nellie Jacka is an Australian scientist who studies how what we eat affects mental health. She founded and leads the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research and is a professor at Deakin University, directing the Food & Mood Centre. Her work shows that diet can influence the risk of mental disorders and can also help treat them. In 2017, her team found that a healthier diet can treat major depression, reducing the risk by about 30%. Her findings have been covered by The Guardian, The Sydney Morning Herald, and ABC News. She has published more than 260 papers and was named an ISI Highly Cited Researcher from 2020 to 2023, placing her in the top 0.1% of scientists worldwide. In 2021, she received the Medal of the Order of Australia for her contributions to nutritional psychiatry research.
