Fatal Five

The Fatal Five are a team of five supervillains from the DC Comics 30th century who often clash with the Legion of Super-Heroes. Created by Jim Shooter, they first appeared in Adventure Comics #352 (1967). The original lineup is Emerald Empress, Mano, Persuader, Tharok, and Validus, led by Tharok. Over the years, different versions and substitutes appeared, including Flare, Caress, and Mentalla.

What they can do
- Emerald Empress: Wields the Emerald Eye of Ekron, a powerful magical artifact that can fire blasts, create shields, hypnotize people, cast illusions, teleport, and even alter reality.
- Mano: A mutant who can disintegrate matter with antimatter from his right hand; wears an environment suit because most atmospheres are dangerous for him.
- Persuader: An expert enforcer who uses an atomic axe on a long shaft that can cut through almost anything.
- Tharok: A cyborg with a mostly mechanical left side and a cybernetic brain, giving him great intelligence and strength.
- Validus: A massive, powerful monster who can generate electricity; in some stories he is revealed to be Garridan Ranzz, the son of Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl.

Continuities and appearances
- The Five appear in various reboots and alternate versions, including a 1993 Legionnaires version and a 1996 reintroduction in Legion of Super-Heroes (vol. 4).
- They show up in crossovers such as Teen Titans/Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice League vs. the Fatal Five.
- In DC Rebirth, Emerald Empress leads a modern version of the Fatal Five with a new lineup.
