European Federation for Immunogenetics
The European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI) is a European group for people who work in immunogenetics. It began in the early 1980s and became an official organization in the mid-1980s to help scientists share ideas and keep their work reliable. EFI sets standards for laboratories and builds connections with other organizations around the world that do similar work.
Today, more than 200 laboratories are accredited by EFI, not only in Europe but also in Israel, South Africa, and Mexico. These labs meet EFI’s criteria and are regularly inspected to ensure high-quality work. EFI’s committees—Standards and Quality Assurance, Accreditation, Education, and Scientific—oversee the adherence to its standards. The current president is Marco Andreani. Other immunogenetics societies worldwide include ASEATTA, ASHI, BSHI, and DGI.
