Enrico Lopez-Yañez
Enrico Lopez‑Yañez is a conductor, composer and producer known for leading orchestral pops programs. He is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Detroit Symphony and the Pacific Symphony, the Principal Conductor of Dallas Symphony Presents, and the Principal Guest Conductor of Pops at the Indianapolis Symphony. He spent eight seasons with the Nashville Symphony as Assistant Conductor and later Principal Pops Conductor.
Born in 1989 in San Diego into a musical family, he grew up in Europe and California and started piano with his mother before exploring trumpet and drums. He co-founded Symphonica Productions to create innovative pops programming. He studied at UCLA (BM and MM) and the University of Maryland (MM in Conducting), with guidance from Jim Ross and masterclasses with Lorin Maazel and Michael Tilson Thomas. His early career included the Omaha Symphony and work with the National Youth Orchestra.
Lopez‑Yañez has collaborated with many artists and orchestras and has also conducted opera productions. In 2023 he received the Mexicanos Distinguidos award for promoting Mexico abroad, and his recording projects have won various awards.
