English Bridge
English Bridge is a pedestrian arch bridge in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It crosses the Fontanka River and connects Pokrovsky and Anonymous islands.
History and design
- A wooden five-span bridge stood here from 1910, after traffic was moved from the Egyptian Bridge when it collapsed in 1905.
- The current bridge was built in 1962–1963. It was designed by architects Areshev and Vasilkovsky, under engineer Kerlikov.
- The new bridge is three spans, on ferroconcrete abutments with a granite cover and simple metal railings.

Name
- The bridge gets its name from the nearby English Prospekt.
