Dr. Wells is a pepper-style carbonated soft drink currently manufactured by The Dad's Root Beer Company, LLC (owned by Hedinger Brands, LLC) in Jasper, Indiana. It was introduced in 1935 by Ludford Fruit Products of Los Angeles, California. The drink is available in 12-ounce cans, 12-ounce glass bottles, 20-ounce plastic bottles, and fountain service in select U.S. markets. Over the years, Dr. Wells changed hands several times: Ludford Fruit Products was connected to Hollywood Beverages; in the 1970s the Flavette division of Rheingold Corporation bought Dr. Wells; Monarch Beverage Company bought the brand in 1987 after PepsiCo had purchased Rheingold and Flavette. In 2007 Hedinger Brands purchased Dr. Wells (along with Dad's Root Beer, Bubble Up, and Sun Crest) and licensed them to The Dad's Root Beer Company, LLC. The company headquarters are in Jasper, Indiana. Classic slogans included "Makes a Nickle Thirsty" and "The Cooler Doctor."
