District Office Building, Września

The district office building in Września is where Września County’s administration is based. It stands on Chopin Street, just south of the town’s Market Square.

History
- The site used to be the cemetery for the Church of the Holy Spirit.
- In 1848, builder Xavier Stelmachowski bought the land after the church was closed.
- In 1850, part of the cemetery land was bought to build the county’s headquarters for Września County (created in 1818).
- In 1911, the remaining land was bought to build the landrat’s villa (the governor’s residence).
- Until 1945, the building served as the district office and the governor’s apartment.
- After World War II, the building was renovated and updated several times.
- In 1970, the ground floor of the villa was turned into a wedding venue.
- From 1975, the building also housed the Municipal Council.
- After Września County was re-created in 1999, the building again served as the district office.
