Diocese of Jacmel
The Diocese of Jacmel (Latin: Dioecesis Iacmeliensis; French: Diocèse de Jacmel; Haitian Creole: Dyosèz Jakmèl) is a Roman Catholic district in Haiti. It sits in the Ecclesiastical Province of Port-au-Prince and is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. The diocese covers about 2,700 square kilometers. In 2008, about 510,257 people lived there, with 331,667 Catholics (about 65%). It has 25 parishes.
The diocese was established on February 25, 1988. It began with ten priests and by 2007 had over fifty, with some serving as missionaries in places such as Brazil and Quebec.
The Cathedral is the Cathedral of St. James and St. Philip. The diocese follows the Latin Rite. The current bishop is Glandas Marie Erick Toussaint.
