Data Axle is a private data, technology, and marketing company based in Dallas, Texas. It serves sales teams, marketers, and professionals. The company was founded in 1972 by Vinod Gupta as Business Research Services, which made lists for mobile home manufacturers. It later became American Business Lists, then American Business Information (ABI). In 1986, ABI added Yellow Pages to its database, available on floppy disks, pre-printed labels, or CD-ROMs. The company went public on NASDAQ in 1992 and was renamed infoUSA in 1998, then Infogroup in 2008 to reflect global growth. In 2020, it adopted the name Data Axle to better represent its range of services. Private equity changes shaped ownership: CCMP Capital bought Infogroup in 2010 for about $460 million and later sold it to Court Square Capital Partners in 2017. In 2019, the Dallas office was named the corporate headquarters. Today, Data Axle is owned by Court Square Capital Partners, led by CEO Andrew Frawley, with about 1,300 employees.
